Care That Keeps You at Home

Imagine having your own home care team – without worrying about paying upfront, keeping receipts or waiting for reimbursement. In Alberta, that’s now possible!

The Client Directed Home Care Invoicing Program (CDHCI) launched by Alberta Health Services and Alberta Blue Cross allows you to choose who provides your care, decide when they come, and get the services you actually need.

Best of all, there is no upfront cost! Your agency bills Alberta Blue Cross directly.

What is the Client Directed Home Care Invoicing Program?

The CDHCI program gives you the freedom to choose a home care agency you trust, as long as they’re registered with Alberta Blue Cross. Each month, you’ll have access to a set number of pre-approved care hours. Your agency will then submit claims directly to Alberta Blue Cross for reimbursement – so you don’t have to worry about the paperwork or costs.

This program recognizes and supports seniors who require assistance with daily living activities. It provides financial coverage for essential home care services, including:

  • Personal Care: help with bathing, dressing, mobility, exercise, meals, medication and more
  • Homemaking: cleaning, laundry, and garbage removal – so you can stay comfortable at home
  • Respite care: giving both you and your support person(s) confidence and peace of mind through safe, reliable care

Who can use CDHCI?

You may qualify for CDHCI if you:

  • Have a valid Alberta Health Care number
  • Have been assessed by an AHS Case Manager as needing home care

With CDHCI, you’re never alone – you’ll have support, but you’ll also have the freedom to choose what works best for you.

Do you qualify? Call 811 to request an assessment with an AHS Case Manager. For more information about home care services, visit the Alberta Health Services website.
