After researching many companies in Calgary looking for the perfect company to assist us in the care of my Mom, we chose Granddaughters. The Owner, Donna, Office Staff, Nurses and Care Aides are all in a class of their own. From day one, their compassion and professionalism stood out. My Mom’s caregiving team became part of our family. They treated her with kindness, patience, and respect. They made her smile, listened to her stories, laughed with her, and truly cared about her comfort and happiness. Because of them, my Mom was able to remain in our home surrounded by warmth, laughter and genuine care. My wife was diagnosed with dementia three years ago. We were living in another city but moved back to Calgary to be close to Family. I look after my wife at home for a year but her needs were such that I struggled to run errands, see friends and get to my own appointments. A friend who was aware of our situation introduced me to a gentleman who was in a similar situation and he told me that he had used Granddaughter’s services and could highly recommend the company. For the next 16 months Granddaughters helped me care for my wife and I came to understand why they came so highly recommended. We can't recommend Granddaughters Home Care enough! Every single person, from office staff, to compassion care staff, has been absolutely fantastic to deal with. My Mom had Alzheimers and the staff were so very compassionate and kind to her, even on her not so great days. We always felt that there was someone who cared for her on the days we weren't able to go ourselves, and that was a huge relief to us as a family. We appreciate how the care received boosted my Mother's quality of life, and we cherished the visit reports and pictures more than we can say, especially now that she has passed. Granddaughters of Calgary are amazing! Within 1 week they changed my mother's quality of life from debilitating to almost fully functioning. Post hip replacement followed by 8 weeks of hospital and rehab recovery rendered my mom almost incapable of caring for herself. She had severe memory loss and forgot how to do the simplest of tasks. She was not sleeping nor eating well. From the first week of daily visits by Granddaughters, she has regained her life. She is happy and thriving due to the compassion and friendship of the wonderful women who come see her. I cannot say enough good about this incredible company from the owner, to office staff, to the women who come visit her. I was always available to take her to any appointments she had like the dentist, but she didn’t want to “bother me”. Granddaughters picked her up from her room, took her where she wanted to go, waited then brought her home. They also were happy to just go over and have tea with her and a nice happy visit. These ladies are so wonderful and kind. I have seen them on many occasions visiting with and escorting other residents. They bring such joy into seniors lives. The dedicated, and upbeat personalities of the ladies visiting our dad, as well as those who have met him in either the Care Home or Hospital, have been a bright spot in his day, and made him feel cared for and important. Their visits have been very uplifting for the family as well, knowing that someone is providing support, conversation and encouragement when we are not present. “My daughter found your organization. I had an interview with a person who. would. be my companion. Fridays are my day out and my companion picks me up and we go shopping. It didn’t take long until I recognized Carla as a friend. We laugh a lot which I like to do and she has done so many countless assists when I have had to go to hospital assisting in the paper work, even bringing me a large ice cream Sundae. She has done so many kind, out of her way things for me I really can’t help but think someone was looking after me and I couldn’t be happier!!! It was Karma. Thank you too Donna for putting the two of us together. Not everyone would understand or get my odd sense of humour but Carla has accepted me just as I am.
I have to be the luckiest person for when Carla is unavailable I have Willa who slips into my heart and she takes up the slack. We have had a few adventures as when I had my ears pierced and Willa supervised, making sure I wouldn’t be lop sided. We also have lots of fun and again she lets me be me with this warped sense of humour. Having finally found my freedom my lighter side is growing. I do love these two ladies. They also are my family.”
